A Rock: Karleen is a dependable sister and mother who is so full of resilience

Karleen MacGregor is very much a self-made individual. From her paving her own way into social work to her being a tremendous single mother, she is very much a phenomenal individual. And even in more recent years through some tough family situations, Karleen has endured it all and been a rock for her and her brother, Shayne.

“Karleen is very independent and has done everything in her life with no help from anyone,” he said. “She is a social worker. She is always trying to help the less fortunate.”

Whether it is because she remains true to her roots or whether it is because of how big of a heart she has, you could say social work chose Karleen. She is the right fit for that kind of position, as she wears her heart on her sleeve and is always going to do what is best for everyone around her.

Speaking of doing right by everyone, Karleen has been the best mother a 21-year-old could ever ask for. The sacrifices she has made for Jordyn over the years are truly countless, and the way she has found a way to make it all work for the good of her daughter is yet another example of how amazing Karleen truly is.

“She’s a single mom! She raised her daughter mostly on her own,” Shayne said. “And her daughter has turned out to be an outstanding citizen.”

They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their children, and in Karleen’s case, Jordyn’s personality speaks highly of her mother. She serves as a great reminder of how amazing Karleen’s character is, and their relationship alone is something special.

What is also special is the bond Karleen has with her brother. From their times growing up wrestling on the floor (with bloody noses occasionally happening) to being a great younger sister who he actually looks up to, Shayne could not ask for anyone better to share blood with.

“She is very caring. She has a good sense of humor. She is very independent and, best of all, she is my sister,” Shayne said. “She has done very well for herself with little help. She has been able to buy a house and, just recently, a new car for herself.”

Karleen can make do with little, and yet she will tell you she has all she needs in this world. She has a brother to share memories with and a daughter to make new ones with.

Speaking of memories, Karleen loves going to concerts (i.e. Bon Jovi), binging Friends on the couch, and taking her daughter to Disneyland. She also just loves making the most out of life and being there for every person she can be there for.
