Andy York is a loving wife and mom who would do anything for the people she loves.
Her husband, Julian, said Andy always puts everyone ahead of herself, especially her daughters, Banks and Bowie.
“I’m very type A and I call Andy type Z, but she takes care of all of us and asks little in return,” Julian said.
Andy was born in Vrsac, Serbia, and Julian said that growing up in European background families has prepared her to be a wonderful mother.
“She has learned so much from her and my parents, and she is so resourceful when it comes to information about raising kids that always makes me wonder how she knows so much,” Julian said.
Andy is also an incredibly hard worker with a tremendous work ethic – she squeezes a 40-hour work week into 16 working from home. She went from working as a server at Jack Astor’s in Etobicoke to being an officer in the OSAP offices at McMaster University.
With a full-time job and two young children, she has very little free time, but she does find time to do the things she loves. She squeezes in a Peloton ride during her lunch break or walks on a treadmill at her desk while working. “#hotmomera”
She is also excellent with computers, acting as tech support for the family.
“We call her iAndy,” Julian said with a smile.
The couple met through Tinder. They still joke about who had their km setting at further as they were always 30 minutes to an hour apart in most cases.
Julian said he knew she was the one when he realized he enjoyed spending time with Andy over his lifelong friends.
“It doesn’t matter what we do together, whether it’s something we are excited for or something we are dreading, as long as we are together, I know everything will be perfect,” Julian said.
One memory that sticks with Julian is the night they got home after the birth of their daughter, Banks. He told Andy he was so sore that he didn’t think he would ever recover from the chair in the room. Meanwhile, Andy had just given birth.
Julian said Andy is his best friend who allows him to vent about life, work, sports, and always provides reasonable responses that support and back him up. He added that she inherits his beefs and supports his decisions.
Andy has taught Julian how to be a better person, and specifically a better parent.
“I have become way more present and way more helpful as our babies are now toddlers, which has allowed her to get that much needed break (at times),” Julian said.
“Our relationship has exceeded my expectations as we’ve grown older together,” he said, adding, “We joke that we went through every major life step together: moved in with me; beta fish; dog; our first house together; second dog; kids! I wouldn’t be able to handle everything on my plate without her. Nor would I want to. Andy, thank you for everything. The girls and I love and appreciate you.”
