‘We Couldn’t Imagine Our Lives Without Her’

“My wife does everything for everyone. Especially her kids. She comes and goes, taking the kids to practices; job interviews; to and from school. Our oldest daughter needed someone to come get her from another state and Kathy dropped everything to go get her. She is constantly taking our youngest daughter Alyssa to and from cheer and other cheer-related events. While hectic, she always has and always will put her kids first.”

Josh Prevatt had all this and more to say about his devoted wife, Kathy, and that is because of how amazing she truly is. She takes on so many things in her life, and at the end of the day she does it all for her kids. She lives and breathes for her three children, and she is definitely their lifeblood too.

“Not only does she make sure we have what we need, but she always makes sure there’s a little something special,” Kathy’s oldest daughter Amy said. “Especially when it comes to birthdays or special events.”

From the time they were little, Amy and her siblings remember the way their mother would create the most elaborate birthday plans. Of course, when it came to planning for Josh’s, his lack of reading a big sign in front of him kind of ruined the suspense of his Nerf war party.

More than that, however, Kathy is a meticulous mother. She is very hands-on and makes sure they are obedient, and in their obedience they understand why they need to do things or act a certain way.

Not only does Kathy instill many morals and values into their children, she is a role model and someone they look up to. They appreciate the fact that she is always there for them.

“Whatever I need help with, she will drop everything to help me,” the middle child, Travis, said. 

Kathy is a super selfless individual and a super selfless mother, and anyone who has been around her long enough realizes you do not come between her bond with her children.

“Alyssa says she loves the time she spends with her mother on ‘Jeep Saturdays,’” Josh mentioned. “This includes spending one-on-one time and going on countless adventures.”

Each kid is in a different stage of their lives (Amy is a young adult; Travis is finishing out his teen years; and Alyssa is at that young teen stage), and yet Kathy treats them each with the same amount of love and respect. While also making sure she treats them as individuals.

And then you have the relationship she has with Josh, who quite literally would not be married to her if not for Kathy’s initiation. Josh was too shy to ask her out so she took him for drinks on his 21st birthday, and they have been inseparable ever since. They fell in love with one another and have been each other’s backbone, and Josh says, “She is the love of my life. I couldn’t imagine a life without her.”

From their week hiking in Oregon to all the camping adventures they have taken with their children, life with Kathy is special. She even makes sure the little things are taken care of, like the kids having lunch for school and Josh having drinks for work, and they cannot begin to fathom what life would look like without Kathy taking care of them constantly.

“I want my wife to know that me and the kids appreciate her and what she does for this house immensely. While we may not show it all the time, it does not go unnoticed.” – Josh
