It’s almost like Laura Montroy was born to be a mother, considering that the necessary skills to do so have flown naturally to her ever since the birth of her daughter Chloe Montroy on April 27th, 2022. She impresses her husband Josh Montroy with her maternal instincts daily.
Laura was born in China and adopted by Mike Panyszak and Kei Moray at eight months old. She grew up with her parents and her sister Christine in Ottawa and has a large family in Montreal, who is very involved in her life.
Her parents are thrilled to be a part of her life today and that Laura has given them their first grandchild. However, there would be no grandchild for Laura’s parents without a fateful meeting with her husband Josh when the two lovebirds met in the fourth grade.
They may have met in elementary school, but their first date didn’t take place until they were 19 years old at a seafood restaurant. It’s ironic they met in elementary school because Laura is now an elementary school teacher, which is part of what helped her fit so naturally into becoming a great mother.
“This is her second Mother’s Day, but really her first of having been a mother for a full year. Chloe is our first child, so Laura is a first-time mom – but you wouldn’t know it,” said Josh. “Everything has come so naturally to her. Chloe is fortunate to have a mom who has persevered through some difficult times and has always put her own needs on the backburner [in favor of her kids].”
Some of Laura’s best traits that make her a mother are her kindness and empathy, which allows her to put others first and think about how they will feel in a situation. The resilience she’s gained through overcoming tough times in her own life has also helped her be able to always put Chloe first and do what’s best for her no matter what else is going on.
“[I admire] her toughness. What she went through and is still going through to give us a child is admirable, and I would not have been able to do what she has done/is doing,” said Josh. “She is constantly learning and exploring new ways and methods to help Chloe to grow and learn and develop as a child and how to best set her up for success in life. Her unselfishness is inspiring.”
Even in Chloe’s short life, Laura has blessed her with many wonderful times with her family including their trip to an experimental farm where Chloe played with sheep. While on maternity leave, Laura brought Chloe to many places like gymnastics and playdates to help her grow and develop.
“She seems to know everything – this toy is good for Chloe at this age, this food is good for her, or this toy is not good for her, this food is dangerous etc. She is able to keep a million things in her head as long as it relates to our daughter,” said Josh. “She is patient but stern and just seems to naturally know how to handle every situation we’ve been in as parents. She carries the parenting team.”
Her dedication to being a mom inspires her entire family. She is the magic that makes her family special and will continue to do so for many Mother’s Days to come.
