If you don’t know Amy Christensen, you are really missing out. From her kind and healing heart to her ability to set time aside for the people she cares most about, she is there for all her loved ones.

In fact, it is her loved ones who will tell you that Amy is their biggest role model. They learn so much from her every day, and they lean on her for a lot of guidance and wisdom.

“Self-sufficiency and freedom,” her son Owen said when asked what he has learned from his mom. “From a young age, my mom made it clear that it didn’t matter what we chose to do in our lives as long as we were able to care for ourselves.

“She also let us know that she would support us in whichever path we chose to take. This was something I did not understand as much when I was younger, but as I have gotten older, I have realized how much this unconditional support and freedom has helped me form my own path and find what I want in my life.”

Be who you are and become who you want to be. This is one of the many things Amy always instilled in her kids right from the start.

What she also instilled in them was how to always look out for those around you. Through her living by example, her heart has always been on full display, and her children really appreciate everything about their mother.

It did not matter the facet of life either, as even her work as an occupational therapist has shown her kids how to live life the right way and how to treat others right. It has also shown them the importance of always putting your best foot forward.

“I have learned how to be strong and resilient, even in tough times,” her daughter Ella said. “She’s taught me the value of hard work and resilience.”

Keep pushing forward no matter what. This has been a way of life for Amy, and it has been very beneficial considering some of the things her family has endured together. While most of it has not been life-or-death, it has been things that have drastically changed the outlook of their lives.

“Amy has always supported me in all my endeavors,” her husband John said. “From going back to college, moving jobs, playing sports and being in a couple of bands. She helps to make me feel comfortable in my and her life choices.”

No matter what, though, Amy has had her husband’s back, and he appreciates that. He knows he has not always made things easy on her, but he wants her to know the sacrifices she has made for him have not gone unnoticed.

Of course, as a mother, Amy naturally made and continues to make a lot of sacrifices for her children too. She has been there for them through all of life’s highs and lows, and just like she supports John through everything, she supports Owen and Ella through everything.

“Amy is an incredible mother,” John said. “She is very caring and is a great role model for how to be toward others (strangers or friends). She has always made sure the kids were taken care of and made them feel special. She has planned wonderful birthday parties for me and the kids – surprise parties for my 40th; her mom’s 70th; her aunt’s 60th. Amy has always made sure both kids felt loved equally.”

There is a two-and-a-half-year age gap between Owen and Ella, so there were some times where they were at different stages of their lives. And yet, their mother always figured out a way to navigate it all and has ensured they know she loves them equally while also treating them both as individuals.

“I think the biggest thing that makes her a good mom is her unconditional love for us as her kids,” Owen said. “As I have gotten older, I have realized how special and unique it really is to have that sort of support for who you truly are, and it is something I have come to value greatly in my life.”

Owen appreciates his mother more than she probably realizes, and he knows his sister does too. They are the smart, well-studied individuals they are today thanks to their mother’s endless encouragement and her always pushing them toward their goals, and that is why they are both pursuing tough degrees.

They also do not take for granted all the special moments they have shared with their mother along the way. While Amy has always pushed them in the right direction, she has made sure her kids do not forget the important moments with family and friends either.

“She always puts in effort to make sure that special days like holidays and birthdays are extra special,” Ella said. “She makes our house feel like a home filled with warmth and love.”

The Christensen kids have not ever questioned whether they are loved or not, and that is all thanks to their wonderful mother.

A whole lot of other people feel the same way too. From her clients to her friends, the people in Amy’s life know where they stand with her, and they all experience an abundance of compassion pouring out from her.

“One other thing I appreciate about her a lot is her willingness and ability to dive deep into long conversations,” Owen said. “There have been many times where we will chat for hours on end, and it has often helped me work through problems and find clarity in complex situations.”

If you need a piece of advice or just a shoulder to lean on in times of struggle, Amy is your person. Her heart knows no bounds, and her presence is felt by others even at a distance. She makes such an impact on everyone, and there is no one quite like her.

“I sometimes envy my daughter Amy because:

“She has so much empathy.

“She is focused and determined.

“She is a very hard worker.

“She is a loving mother.

“She is family oriented.

“She is willing to help the underdog.

“On the other hand, she is head strong and holds her ground,” her mother Sylvia said.

She cares a lot about everyone, but she is also not going to take crap from anyone. Amy stays focused and devoted, and there is nothing that gets in the way of her success or her protecting her family.

Nothing gets in the way of her upstanding personality either. She is someone who loves life above all else, and the countless trips and adventures throughout the years are something John and others always love reflecting upon.

“Her sense of humor and the way she makes life more fun,” Ella said when asked what she appreciates about her mother. “The sacrifices she’s made to give me the best opportunities in life.”

Without Amy, there would be a lot of people who might be lost or confused. They might not have the same sense of direction they have currently because of having Amy in their lives, and thankfully they do not have to think about the former.

“I love her, for now and for forever.” – John
