Carla has spent her life teaching her daughters a simple lesson: life is hard, but you always get to choose how you treat the people around you. It’s a lesson her daughter Morgan says she’ll carry for the rest of her life — and one she now hopes to pass on to her own child.
Carla’s daughters describe her as the kind of mother whose generosity never runs dry, whether the people who need her are family, friends, or complete strangers. No matter what she’s dealing with herself, she finds a way to help.
“What I admire most about my mom is the way she loves people,” Morgan said. “She has the biggest heart and gives so much of herself to those around her.”
Christmas mornings stand out as a defining memory for Morgan — stockings, breakfast, and Carla trying to capture every second on camera, visibly happiest just watching her kids experience the moment she’d created for them.
Now a grandmother, or “Mimi” as she’s known, Carla brings that same energy to her grandchildren. Morgan says watching her mother love her grandkids the way she once loved her own children has been one of the greatest gifts of adulthood.
“She has always shown us what unconditional love is supposed to look like,” Morgan said.
Carla’s work ethic runs just as deep as her warmth. Whether it’s physical labor or chasing after grandbabies, she’s known for never sitting still, and for putting the people around her first without ever asking for recognition in return.
“She doesn’t do things for praise,” Morgan said. “That’s simply who she is.”
“Thank you for showing us what unconditional love looks like,” Morgan said. “You are the heart of our family.”
