Deanna David was Doug Moore’s first true love. The two met in high school and dated for two years.
“I broke up with her not knowing I broke her heart,” said Doug. “I didn’t realize she was the one until 35 years later. But now I know.”
The high school sweethearts went their separate ways for decades. Both got married and had kids with other partners. Years later, they reconnected, giving cause for celebration that they are together again for Valentine’s Day in 2025.
“Somehow, it just happened,” said Doug. “We got back together, got married, and are so happy now to be married to each other.”
The couple met as teenagers while grabbing pizza on a summer night. They have many fond memories from those early years together, including when Doug went with Deanna’s parents for the first time to the lake and drove the family boat.
“Her dad was surprised how well I knew how to operate a boat at the age of 15,” Doug recalls.
Deanna’s parents are Angus and Kay David. She also has a brother named John.
“A great family person that loves her family and relatives very much,” Doug said. “I admire that about her.”
Deanna has three kids: Lauran, Taylor and Weslee. She has three grandkids, too: Kaiden, Karma and Maverick.
Doug has one son, Matt, and one grandson, Wade.
“I appreciate just the amount of love she has for her family,” said Doug. “We have lots of funny moments together. She is always laughing and makes me laugh.”
A fan of napping and swimming in her free time, Deanna is a mobile dental hygienist that visits nursing homes. According to Doug, she is an expert at her job and an expert at decorating the house.
“She knows what she wants,” said Doug. “Just being herself helps me and those around her be better people.”
A shared hobby is going out on a boat, like they did way back when Doug was 15 years old. The couple also likes playing games, doing yardwork, and visiting with friends.
Decades after they first started seeing each other, Doug and Deanna are careful to appreciate each other and enjoy life together.
“It’s a crazy story how we met in high school and, 35 years later, married after we both married and had kids of our own,” said Doug. “I love Deanna very much and will love her through the good and the bad. She is an awesome wife and an even better person.”
