Madelynn Caruso: Small Gal, Big Heart

Career changes, new parenthood, and fond memories are just some of the stops on the journey of love that Madelynn Caruso and her husband, Nick Caruso, have embarked on.

Nick and Madelynn, parents to 1-and-a-half-year old Lana, have been married for about four years, after a classic meeting at the bar—which was fittingly named “1912”—sparked a beautiful beginning. Following some enjoyable, yet sporadic, conversations throughout the night, Nick knew he had to stay in touch, recounting that “the only way to get her number was to approach her and 10 of her friends sitting together at a table. It’s maybe the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

Nick was considering dropping out of law school around the same time. Despite deciding to leave the program, Nick remained in the Omaha area to stay close to Madelynn: “I remember telling my mom that I was going to stick it out in Omaha for a little longer, because I had such a good feeling about the new girl I was hanging out with,” Nick said.

After several years of dating, the two got married in 2021, and the wedding was followed by a honeymoon in Naples, FL, on which the two “became kids again,” remarked Nick regarding a honeymoon week that he could “never forget.”

As new parents, Nick and Madelynn are embracing a fast-paced lifestyle. After working as a nurse for over five years, Madelynn has transitioned into more of an instructional role, a fitting parallel to much of her home life.

“Most of her time is taking care of our daughter Lana, which includes exploring what Lana wants to explore and doing what Lana wants to do. She absolutely loves being a mom,” said Nick, adding that the couple has thoroughly enjoyed parenting and could not imagine life without their young daughter.

Madelynn also enjoys watching television, reading books, and connecting with her longtime friends. Nick also claims, “She always makes people feel welcome and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body (even if she doesn’t like you).”

The couple now enjoys travelling and taking small adventures around town. “We are best friends,” declared Nick.

“She’s loving and extremely considerate,” he added. “She knows what matters and what does not in the grand scheme of life.  She’s wise beyond her years emotionally.  Most of all, she’s a true reflection of her family and mine.”

Throughout their marriage, Nick has enjoyed Madelynn’s unique sense of humor and unwavering sense of authenticity. Nick described Madelynn’s smile and laugh as “infectious,” adding that her intelligence, selflessness, and care for those around her make her who she is.

More recently, Nick has admired Madelynn’s devotion and commitment to their daughter. “She is the most attentive, interactive, loving, caring, and selfless mother,” Nick said. “Even on the hard days, she shows Lana all the love she deserves.”

Madelynn is a “blessing to everyone in her life,” said Nick, who noted that she has taught him the value of humility, family, and perspective over the course of their relationship. He hopes to honor, appreciate, and express his gratitude towards Madelynn this Mother’s Day—a snapshot during the rollercoaster of life.

“Thank you for always being the person I can count on. In my eyes, you are the best wife and a perfect mom. We are all so lucky to have you.”
