Nooks and Crannies: Kathleen Carroll’s Quirkiness and Commitment Serve Her Well

“It’s so easy, it’s like dangling a fish in front of a dog,” Kathleen Carroll exclaimed to husband Jason during a game of Apples to Apples.

During this season of love and affection, Jason reflects on the unique memories he has with his wife, many of which highlight a playful quirkiness that make her truly unique – Kathleen previously believed that a rhinoceros laid eggs and is terribly clumsy, which “often makes us laugh, whether she’s dropping something or stumbling over something,” Jason said.

A wholesome love story bloomed at a Panera Bread, where Kathleen and Jason were co-workers. Between all of the bagels coming out of the oven flew words of a warming love interest.

Shortly after a first date consisting of The Ugly Truth and a failed Applebee’s chicken salad order came the happy revelation: “It was about a month after we first started dating when I first knew I loved her,” recalled Jason. “I knew she was the one for me and she had the same feeling.”

Jason reflected on how the couple grew close quickly as well, saying that “I don’t think there was a moment where I was like ‘she’s the one.’ It kind of just happened.”

The couple now raises sons Nathan, Evan, and canine children Ug and Violet. Jason marvels at Kathleen’s determination as a person and her commitment to providing as a parent: “She makes the best mother because of her love and her willingness to give,” proclaimed Jason. “She’s such a giver. And she loves her family more than anything.”

When not working as a store director at Target, Katheen and her family enjoy going out to eat, spending time together on the couch, shopping, and on game nights. “We love our game nights: they are few and far between, but they’re so much fun,” Jason said. Whether Apples to Apples or another family favorite, these moments together are often where quirky comments and family inside jokes blossom.

On this Valentine’s Day, Jason hopes to shower Kathleen with the love that she deserves for supporting him through difficult times and creating fond memories with him.

“There isn’t a force on this earth that could separate us. I would do anything for her, absolutely anything,” declared Jason. “She is the best wife and mother I could ever want or hope for. I’m so happy and lucky that I am able to be with her. I don’t say it enough, but I really do appreciate her.”
