Brittani Umeh is a wonderful wife and mom who would do anything for her husband and three little girls.
Her husband, Kenny, said, “Brittani is a great mother because she is an amazing role model for her children and is full of unconditional love. As great as she is as a mom, she’s an even better wife.”
Brittani is very competitive, which helped her earn a full scholarship to play basketball at the University of North Texas, where she met Kenny.
They met in Philosophy class after Brittani tore her ACL. He held the door open for her one day when she was on crutches and he needed to know her name, but he was too shy to ask so he looked her up on the school’s basketball team website.
He added her as a friend on Facebook and “poked” her. After Kenny’s attempts at flirting, they began messaging on Facebook and went on a date.
“Not too long after that, maybe a few more dates, I told her we were going to get married and the rest is history,” Kenny said. “We were engaged in April of 2016, and we married in November of 2017.”
Kenny said he knew Brittani was “The One” because of the way everything in life, including their problems, melted away and didn’t matter when the two of them were together.
Brittani works as a very well-respected educational administrator, training the next cohort of teachers to provide proper and effective education to general education and special education students. She also worked as a teacher and basketball coach.
“I love that she is career-driven and passionate about properly educating the next generation, especially those with special needs,” Kenny said.
When she isn’t working, Brittani loves to travel. She is an avid foodie and loves to eat and try new restaurants, but family is the most important thing to her.
“Spending time with me and the girls is something she does not take for granted,” Kenny said, adding, “when she is with the girls, she loves being present.”
Kenny said he loves her beauty and her compassion for others. He admires that so many people want to befriend her because of her infectious and positive energy, but her humility does not allow her to see it. He added that Brittani truly is one of one.
“I am thankful for her honesty that allows me to see myself in a better light and forces me to correct areas I may be lacking,” Kenny said. “She shows me how to love through her actions, and I often learn from her in some parenting skills she possesses. Brittani, I don’t say it enough, but you mean everything to me and our family. My love for you continues to grow and I will love you forever.”
