GHD provides services ranging from engineering, architecture, environmental, construction, advisory, and digital solutions to clients in 14 countries, and the company’s Pennsylvania footprint has been a key to its growth and success.

With more than 45 years of local experience and offices in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Bloomsburg, and King of Prussia, GHD’s Pennsylvania roots run deep. GHD’s Pennsylvania operations serve public and private clients by offering expertise in the water, environment, energy & resources, property & buildings, and transportation sectors.

“A key strength of our operations in Pennsylvania involves our capacity to integrate multiple disciplines into a cohesive suite of solutions for our clients,” Scott Crosswell, a GHD Principal and one of the company’s global delivery leaders, said. “We have all the necessary capabilities ‘in-house’ to cost-effectively deliver projects during all phases, from planning through design and construction.”

GHD has successfully completed thousands of assignments and established a reputation for providing innovative, yet practical, solutions to complex engineering and environmental challenges.

Two examples of GHD’s engagement with local communities and industrial partners are the “Future of Water” and “Future Communities” initiatives. Future of Water is designed to help clients prepare for changes related to water use, water scarcity, and sustainability. GHD understands capital investment, project planning, and the value of data and analytics to construct intelligent designs. Similarly, the Future Communities initiative supports clients to engage in their community in a way that connects people and goods or services and maintains a productive and inspired workforce.

“We understand and support clients in building resilient operations with assets protected from existing and potential threats through the deployment of critical infrastructure and systems, enabling our clients to achieve long-term success,” Brian Jones, Northeast Business Development Leader, said.

Additionally, through the “GHD in the Community” initiative and the GHD Foundation, the team promotes equitable access to STEAM education through scholarships and grants worldwide. The Harrisburg office recently hosted a SolarBuddy “GHD in the Community” event, where employees assembled solar lights to support children in Haiti with limited access to electricity – a meaningful team-building experience and opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

With experience across the full lifecycle of significant development projects, GHD’s multi-disciplinary project teams bring a deep bench of engineering and design experts with experience in thermal, renewable, and fuel cell power and battery energy storage systems around the world and are well-positioned to provide the expertise needed to support Pennsylvania’s energy sector transformation.

“GHD is committed to supporting Pennsylvania’s energy and digital transformation by leveraging our experts and collaborating across our business,” Dave D’Amico, US Energy BGL, said. “Our team has experience supporting the full lifecycle of major development projects, from initial site selection and feasibility assessments through engineering design and construction. Our multi-disciplinary project teams are routinely engaged in engineering design projects in the power, oil and gas, chemical, manufacturing, semiconductor, and transportation sectors.”

As the Commonwealth has emerged as a hub for data center development, GHD has positioned itself as a major supporter of these projects and aims to contribute to economic growth and environmental stewardship across Pennsylvania. The company wants to play a positive role in Pennsylvania’s digital infrastructure boom and is using its global resource network to do so.

“Looking ahead, GHD’s strategic goals in Pennsylvania align with our global vision while addressing the unique needs of the region,” Jones said. “We aim to further strengthen our leadership in the water, environment, and energy sectors and support statewide growth through partnerships, such as those facilitated by the PA Chamber. We are excited to bring our knowledge of innovative design and state-of-the-art technologies to support our clients and exciting projects across the state.”

Current initiatives include delivering advanced cold storage warehousing solutions at Pennsylvania ports, helping water and wastewater facilities manage emerging contaminants, and leading digital solutions for the transportation and water markets through initiatives such as GHD’s Compass IoT partnership and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). GHD also continues to support clients in everyday challenges, from site investigation and remediation to permitting and compliance.

Through continued collaboration with local industries, governments, and community organizations, GHD is dedicated to delivering practical, forward-thinking solutions that address the challenges and opportunities in 2026 and beyond.
