Teresa Tasher’s mettle and personal strength was honed during her formative years in life. She was born in Denver in the ‘80s to Russ and Susan. Circumstances were such that Teresa and her older sister, Deanna, bounced around where they lived when they were young – luckily there were several family traditions introduced by Grandpa and Grandma (Ed and Alyce).

Challenging childhood experiences can weaken the spirit and hobble one’s life. Teresa, however, persevered and came through with a strength that would make her a great mother, friend, and partner in life.

The secret ingredients for Teresa were humor, love, and a recognition that the most important things in life are not actually the “things.”

Some of Teresa’s favorite things happen to be going fishing and camping, golfing or exploring the world with the people she loves. Adventures aren’t about a plan that accounts for things like ketchup or hotdogs for dinner at the campsite, but setting out with your people and a confidence that says, “Come what may, things will be okay as long as we’re together.”

For Teresa, life’s focus should be on the people you’re with and the experiences you are having.

The person Teresa has spent most of her life with started out as her neighbor when they were teenagers. Joey Tasher has been smitten with Teresa ever since he has known her. Even before he could drive, he was pondering a life with her by his side.

This is what Joey had to say about those days: “Our first meetings were at a young age. It was 1995. She was 14 and I was 15, but Teresa was always the one I wanted to be with. She had to move to Arizona a year or so later. When we reconnected in 1999, it was like the entire universe knew we were supposed to be together.”

And so it was. As a new millennium was opening, Joey and Teresa were beginning a new adventure together and in earnest. Where she went, he would also go. What came was a family. One they built together, with Teresa’s guiding wisdom and humility leading them along.

Joey said, “Teresa has taught me how to be a good father. I learned from her daily and I am so grateful. She taught me how to let things go and focus on our objectives. Most of all, she has taught me that we can accomplish anything together.”

The small experiences in life built the foundation of a lasting, loving relationship. For example, a train ride to the mountains led to an entire day taking in the scenery, exploring music, and shops – all of which seemed ordinary and simple on the surface. But for Teresa and Joey, the experience represented a deepening love for each other.

In 2001, Teresa gave birth to a daughter, Isabelle. And even though she and Joey were young, and Teresa had not had an abundance of guidance for parenthood, she knew what she wanted to be as a parent.

“Teresa has shown our daughters the right way to everything in life. Watching her with our girls when they were young was impressive and then observing her patience grow as they became teenagers was surprising. Seeing (now) how both girls, as adults, look to Teresa as their best friend is priceless to me and unprecedented in our families.”

In 2003, Teresa and Joey officially became the ‘Tashers.’ In 2004 Teresa would welcome Kaitlyn, their second daughter, and finalize the family unit as it would exist for the next 20 years.

Decades of life spent growing as a family of folks who still appreciated the simple experiences. Adventure became road trips with the girls with singing battles and getting honked at by semis, laughing, joking and coming closer than ever.

In loving reflection for Teresa, Joey remarks, “Every day, Teresa reminds me that we have built a wonderful life together, and we are not done yet. In fact, it feels as though we have just gotten started. For 24 years, I have tried to find the words that begin to describe the amazing mother and wife you are. I see the selfless way you create and assure happiness for everyone around you. Always know that your husband and your daughters appreciate, admire, and love you so much.”
