The Family Conductor: Kat is the matriarch of the Summers household, and they all appreciate the way she keeps on top of everything

If you spend even a day around Kathryn “Kat” Summers, chances are you are going to get a lot out of that interaction. She can help put things into perspective and she helps people – even her own husband – figure out who they are and who they want to be.

And that is just scratching the surface. This amazing woman has her priorities straight, making sure family is first no matter what. She keeps her people at the center of her life, and she is the reason the Summers clan gets to every event and why they all love each other so much.

“Kat and I have been together for 10 years. She’s been the heart and soul of the relationship,” Jonathan said. “She balances the home front and keeps everyone moving on that side of things. She means the world to us.”

As a stay-at-home mom, Kat has a job that never stops. It’s a 24/7/365 job that keeps her on her toes at all times, but she loves it. She loves her kids more than anything, and keeping on top of the cleaning and keeping everything and everyone organized is all worth it to her.

In fact, the Summers clan knows the family could not function without their matriarch. She is the glue that holds the family together, and she is the one who sets the tone for them.

“We would be lost most days if she wasn’t keeping us squared away,” Jonathan said.

With two children under 10 in the household – Mason (8) and Madi (4) – it is not always smooth sailing. But thanks to the wonderful, patient, kindhearted, mother hen that Kat is, she keeps the train on the tracks.

“I see a lot of her mom in her,” Jonathan said. “She is big-hearted; she puts everyone else first, maybe to a fault. Mason and Madi both play sports and are involved in activities.”

Life gets busy, and Kat always finds a way to put everyone around her first. Of course, as a mother, that bodes extremely well, but the selflessness she possesses and the sacrifices she makes for everyone in general would explain why she is a beloved friend.

She is of Filipino descent, and her kind heart and goodwill extend far and wide. As does her love for every single one of her family members, whom she is always trying to find time to spend with.

“What I admire most is her perseverance and her ability to put everybody else before herself,” Jonathan said, emphasizing his wife’s selflessness. “She always prioritizes everybody else. She doesn’t care nearly enough about herself. It’s always more so about everyone else and her selflessness. Her kindheartedness and the warmth she brings to people and the environments she’s around.”

No matter what room she walks into, she can change the tone and the aura in an instant. That is the kind of person she is, carrying with her a sense of compassion and a sense of making everyone feel loved and cared for.

This is the person she has always been, too, as Jonathan will tell you his wife is as genuine now as the day they first met.

“When we first got together, I knew she was someone who would be fun and energetic and would be fun to be around,” Jonathan said. “She is warm and open and fun to be around. She is friendly. It is easy. She makes everyone feel like they are a part of everything. Embracing those opportunities and making everyone feel like family.”

For Jonathan, it is not difficult to love his wife, but it is difficult at times to express just how much she means to her. And that is because how can you express how amazing someone is when they are so indescribable?

Nonetheless, Jonathan loves and appreciates his wife more than she realizes, and he loves getting to make memories with her too. Their little family of four shares many special moments together, and there are surely many more to come.

“We love to travel as a family,” Jonathan said. “We like to go and visit Disney. We like to travel, relax, and go to Mason’s baseball games. She emphasizes making those games family outings. We do a lot of travel to see family, and a lot of travel to have fun. For fun, we are always on the move, so fun just comes along with it. Just making every day and every moment enjoyable.”

That is the culmination of who Kat is. She is a family first woman who wants to help her family enjoy their lives and be there for one another. She cares so much about her husband, children, sister, and so many others, and they all care so much about her too.

“I want her to understand how much we love and appreciate everything she does. It is a tough job being a stay-at-home mom. It’s difficult to acknowledge. But we have gratitude. Thank you for all you do and how you do it. We could not survive without you. We love you for everything you do.” – Jonathan
