Jan Roman makes it easy for her family to celebrate Mother’s Day.
“She’s just wonderful in every way,” said Anthony Roman, Jan’s elder son. “Jan is the heart of our family—the kind of mother and grandmother most people only dream of.”
Deeply caring and full of grace, Jan is a source of inspiration who practices sacrificial love. The Roman family is endlessly grateful for her place in their lives.
“Her love knows no limits, and her compassion runs deep,” Tony said. “She gives without hesitation, cares without condition, and lives each day putting her children and grandchildren above all else.”
Jan is the mother of two, 42-year-old Tony and 38-year-old Mike, and the grandmother of two, 8-year-old Baylee and 4-year-old Jaxon. She has been married for decades to Frank Roman.
“My mother and I always laugh together when my father goes off on his tangents or just says wild things,” says Tony. “We have a great family, and Jan is a main reason why.”
Jan’s story starts in Grangeville, Idaho, as the child of Ted and Betty Jones. She grew up and went away to Arizona State University, before coming back to Idaho and graduating from Boise State.
In 1990, Jan helped her husband start a roofing company. The couple worked together as an effective team for two decades, as Jan did all the secretarial and back-end work while Frank led the front-end of the company, including roof installations and repairs.
“I’ve come to admire her character, her realness, and her grace over the years,” Tony said. “She is always thinking of others before herself, and she loves her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Jan is a committed member of a local Bible study, in addition to traveling and exploring the world. She has enjoyed many family vacations to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and she spends time watching sports and taking her grandchildren to the park or swimming in their pool.
Tony appreciates how his mom is a constant presence in his family’s life, and he loves how she provides self-confidence and joy to those around her.
“She’s always encouraging and always there when needed—anytime, day or night,” said Tony.
This Mother’s Day, Tony and the Roman family join together to celebrate Jan. It’s something that is easy to do, especially given her Jesus-like love and her role as the heart of the family.
“Her selflessness and warmth light up our lives in ways words can barely express,” said Tony. “We love you and are so grateful and appreciative of you and everything you have done for us.”
