There is a lot that stands out about Jacqui Sukie. From her fight and determination to her work ethic to her enthusiasm in life, there is nothing that can keep this woman down. She has a knack for seeing the world through a different lens (literally), and she is someone who strives for success in life.
“I have learned from Jacqui that anything is possible if you work at it every day,” her friend Stephanie said.
Whether it pertains to running, exercise in general, jewelry design, photography, fashion or trivia, Jacqui has a way of putting her best foot forward in everything she puts her mind to. She is always striving for improvement, and she loves nature.
Jacqui loves the people in her life too – especially her husband, her friends, and her dog Walter. She treats all of them with such love, kindness and respect, and they all love being around her any chance they get.
“Jacqui is my Most Special Friend (MSF), and simply spending time with her is a favorite activity,” her friend Roger said. “When doing something she really likes or at a certain moment, she has what I call her ‘fun smile’ that unintentionally on her part makes a person feel good. I delight in her activities and admire her daily effort for years to meet and beat the health challenges she has been given. I hope she knows I want to be there with her for the fun and the challenges.”
Just like she is there for others through ups and downs, her friends want Jacqui to know they are there for her through the same. She is a happy and compassionate individual who is there for you at all times, and her smile can light up any room she walks into. She has a compassionate heart and is loyal as can be.
“Jacqui is truly a great friend because she always sees the best in you even when you can’t see it yourself and reminds you that it is there,” Stephanie said.
One of the things Roger mentioned was Jacqui’s health challenges, and while she does not let those define her, she does embrace them. She has been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past 12 years, and after the initial stress and negativities it brought, she has created a lifestyle for herself that focuses on fighting back against the disease. From her workout regime to being part of a long-term international study at Cleveland Clinic headquarters, Parkinson’s has not met someone quite like Jacqui before.
“She works out daily doing stretching and strength activities,” Roger said. “She loves taking photos in a range of areas: nature, flowers, bubbles she blows, or what catches her eye. She really likes wearing great clothes that she has found at a thrift store. She loves champagne sparklers and a challenge with trivia nights with friends. She enjoys her Friday date night with her husband Tom.”
Jacqui has created a consistent lifestyle of fun and enjoyment, along with hard work and determination, and this has helped her live the best life possible. Anyone who knows her knows the fight is not always easy, but it is something she has embraced.
What Jacqui has also embraced is her outgoingness and her love for adventure. She is always up for a challenge and trying something new, and she is especially up for it if it involves the people she loves.
“Jacqui has impressed me with her determination and her willingness to try anything,” Stephanie said. “She is always up for an adventure, whether it is shopping, dinner, or a girls’ day of thrift stores. She does live every moment of her life with purpose, compassion and thoughtfulness.”
She lives every moment with a camera in her hand too. The way she can capture memories through her lens is absolutely special, and it is something that a lot of people appreciate about her.
“Jacqui takes pride in giving fun and health benefits in her exercise class at Stewart’s, a facility giving free services to cancer patients and their families,” Roger said. “She also teaches cycling at the Falls Natatorium, providing a smile to herself and the class. She gets great excitement being in juried art shows, particularly having one-person shows at Summit Artspace and Akron Woman’s City Club.”
What people also appreciate about Jacqui is her ability to keep on keeping on and to give back. She is so kind and loving, and she loves life with every fiber of her being.
“Your enthusiasm for running, photography, art, Walter, family and friends, and the joy you have with the activity or people gives me heart-filled joyful memories that replay in my mind that day and years later. I give thanks to God that you allow me to be a part of your life.” – Roger
