Tyler and Brooke Young are born and bred Pennsylvanians who met at Wilkes University. And while it might not have been love at first sight, it was as close to love at first sight as you can get.
After falling head over heels for each other right away, they have not looked back since, and they even got to have the wedding of their dreams.
“We got married in Scranton, PA, at Saint John Neumann Parish, which is about two and a half hours from my hometown and about an hour from her hometown,” Tyler said.
Tyler and Brooke’s wedding was a Catholic ceremony held on August 25, 2018, where they had 150 people celebrate their union on a perfect, partly cloudy day. It was the perfect amount of friends and family to watch the two of them become one.
“When I saw her in that dress for the first time, I definitely had to hold back tears,” Tyler said. “I usually cry at weddings, but tried to keep it together the best I could. Her wedding gown was so her and she looked stunning in it.”
When Tyler saw Brooke walk down that aisle in her dress, it was the final confirmation that she was the one for him.
Some of their best memories, however, were at the reception. It is something Tyler said they will never forget, and everyone had a great time with awesome food and a great DJ.
“We had an absolute blast at the reception,” Tyler said. “Toward the end of the night, Brooke and I were singing songs in the middle of a circle formed by our guests. The most memorable was us singing ‘We are Young’ by Fun in that formed circle.”
People did not get the pun at first, but that song became their song because they are now the Youngs.
Their marriage has been busy ever since they left the reception for their honeymoon.
“We got pregnant with our first girl, Leighton, in Jamaica,” Tyler said. “So we spent the next months preparing for that. Then with Leighton the pandemic hit and slowed everything down briefly, but then we got pregnant again, and just had another girl, Elliott, this month. It’s been a whirlwind but we wouldn’t change anything.”
Tyler loves doing life with Brooke, and he said he would not want anyone else to be the mother to his children.
“She definitely does not give herself the credit she deserves,” Tyler said.
He loves how selfless she is, putting others first and always making him feel special. She is family-focused and is all about creating memories, and Tyler is glad he gets to be part of it all.
“I can’t imagine my life without you,” Tyler said. “You’ve made me a better person. The sacrifices you made for our family will always be remembered. You put everyone first before yourself and it does not go unnoticed. Your uniqueness, thoughtfulness and beauty are unparalleled and I feel like the luckiest man in the world. Happy Anniversary babe!”
