Leslie Burns is her son’s day one and one of his best friends. Hugh Jr. looks up to her as a role model who supports her family through and through, and as a mother who has never let her love for her son waver.
Growing up as the youngest of seven children, Leslie learned to fend for herself at an early age, and she also learned a whole lot about family. She took what she learned about family and used it to help become the wonderful wife and mother she is today.
She also took a lot of the important lessons she has learned throughout her life and has instilled them into her son. She has shown Hugh Jr. how to live life the right way and how to be there for others, as she has such a compassionate heart and a way of teaching that her son really understands and appreciates.
“She has taught me to treat everyone with respect and kindness,” Hugh Jr. said. “She’s also taught me to be a very hard worker and to be yourself.”
As an 18-year-old, being able to reflect upon these life lessons is super important. It helps Hugh Jr. stand on moral ground and hold himself responsible for his actions.
He is grateful for the fact that his mother will always be there for him too. She has been there for him every single day of his life and every step of the way, and he knows that even as he continues to grow older, his mother will have his back no matter what.
“She would do anything for me,” Hugh Jr. said. “She makes countless sacrifices for me. She’s my number one supporter in anything I do.”
Leslie has been her son’s biggest cheerleader throughout his entire life, and she is quite the person for him to look up to.
In fact, she is a model wife as well, as Hugh Jr. knows what it means to be in a stable, loving relationship. It is more than just watching sports together as his parents do, but it is about sacrificing and always having each other’s backs.
A lot of how Leslie lives her life is like that though too, as she has the biggest heart. She loves people and is super selfless, and she also works really hard. She gives anything and everything she does her all, as maximum effort is a big part of who she is.
“I admire her work ethic, kindness, generosity, and how passionate she is about the things she loves,” Hugh Jr. said.
He also appreciates all the fond memories he shares with his mother, from always seeing someone she knows at a restaurant to their annual birthday trip to Florida. He just loves being around his mom and he appreciates her so much, and he wants her to know that she will always be his day one. He wouldn’t be who he is without her, and he is super grateful for all she does for him.
