Maureen Hellems and her family

“Sometimes in those random quiet moments, when I take the time to let my mind wander, I realize, this is the way it has always been. She has always been there. Taking care of the house, the kids, the business, hosting her family, friends, me.

“This incredible woman has been the pillar of my life, 42 years now. At home, she is the matriarch of our family – organizing, planning, comforting, guiding and giving, giving, giving. A respected, natural-born leader who always seems to put others before herself without them even knowing. She would be quick to tell you that she just goes where she is needed. It is clear that her relationships with her family, friends and husband are the most important part of her life.”

This was how Chris Hellems started off talking about his wonderful wife, Maureen. Being the family woman she is, it was a tall task for them to describe all she means to them.

Reliability. This is something a lot of us look for in the people around us, but it is very rare to find.

When daughter Katie was expecting her first child and Maureen’s first grandchild, Maureen was there with words of encouragement, love and giving her the gift of time.

Maureen “Mo” Hellems is someone a lot of people look up to as she can truly do it all.

And we are not just talking about her insane shopping, cooking and reading skills. Maureen is a top-of-the-line wife, a wicked awesome mother and a spoilsome grandmother. She would do anything for any of her family members, and she will go to bat for them at all times.

“Mo is the ultimate wife, mother and grandmother,” Chris said. “She cooks and hosts every family meal for both sides – her family and mine. She is always giving!”

While Chris and Maureen’s origin story is not something we can get into, it was during the time they first got to know each other that Chris knew Maureen was special. She was not like all the other girls, and everything from her personality to her looks stood out.

This Paradise by the Dashboard Lights woman works hard and is always present. She takes care of her own, and she is the CFO of Hellems Associates and her family.

“She does not stop working,” Chris said. “She is a list person and knocks the items off her list every day. She guides, organizes and suggests the family in the proper direction. Weddings, births, parties, holidays, vacations…”

You name it; Mo can organize it.

That’s part of what makes life so memorable with her. Her planning abilities have always made birthday parties, family vacations and so much more super enjoyable and top-notch.

Her mothering abilities have done this as well. Mo did a phenomenal job raising Jamie, Katrina and Chelsea. She has been a role model, a beacon of support and a pillar of strength in all three of their lives, and they all still call upon their mother to this day.

One of the ways her children have been able to rely upon her is with helping raise her grandchildren.

Maureen has always been a hands-on family-raiser, and this is something Chris truly admires about her.

He also admires the fact that his wife keeps everything spic and span. She keeps the house in order and their lives in order, and people love visiting the Hellems household because it is always so welcoming.

“We have three homes, and all are always neat, clean, well-organized and stocked,” Chris said. “That’s not easy to do! She hosts all birthdays, holidays and special events.”

She’s like a superwoman!

All Maureen’s friends are grateful to have her in their lives as well. They know she is someone who is going to have your back at all times.

Not only that, but she brings out the best in others. By showing off her huge, compassionate heart, Maureen proves time and again that she is downright amazing.

“She is always where she needs to be when she is needed!” Chris exclaimed.

Again, reliability is a strong suit of Maureen’s.

Other strong suits of Maureen’s include kindness, selflessness and charity. She loves helping those in need, and she never asks for credit or anything in return.

Her kids and grandkids have been lucky enough to see her in action on a daily basis, and they all know they could not do it without her. They have taken her guidance and wisdom into account in their own lives, and they know Maureen is the best.

“I cannot be more proud in watching how seamlessly she guides the family,” Chris said.

Chris cannot believe he has been married to this amazing and altruistic woman for over 42 years. She is the same woman he met way back when, and for him, it has been a pleasure to grow and mature with her. She brings out the best in him, and she is truly his better half.

“Maureen Hellems, the day I met you, I was a naive young man who had no idea of the significance you were about to have on my life. You made me work for your love and you were right. Good things take time, and me, I won the lottery. You mean everything to me!” – Chris
