Diaz's

Some middle school relationships are meant to last – even if it takes 30 years for the couple to go on their first date.

When Sandra Perez and Javier Diaz first met, both were in the middle of puberty. A few decades later, Sandra reached out to Javier through Facebook Messenger and a connection was kindled. Soon, they were on a first date, and they now consider themselves long-term boyfriend and girlfriend.

“If I had not reconnected with her eight years ago, I would not be the person I am now,” Javier said. “Sandra has impacted my life in so many ways.”

Javier came to appreciate Sandra’s kindness, sense of humor, and ability to problem solve. Sandra is a special education teacher for elementary children and the mother of two children, a son named Gabriel, who is 22 years old, and a daughter named Sophia, 19.

“Sandra has always been there for her two kids whatever the circumstances,” said Javier. “She has always provided and is a wonderful mother.”

Together, Javier and Sandra enjoy visiting the movie theater, eating out, and going on vacations. One of their favorite vacations was a family trip to the California coast.

“There’s a photo from that trip at the wharf that I treasure,” said Javier. “The scenery and being together made the moment magical. I wish it could have lasted forever.”

The couple has many amazing memories. But more than any specific trip they may go on or activity they may do together, Sandra and Javier simply enjoy being in the company of their true love.

“I know Sandra is the person because I still get butterflies when I see her,” Javier said. “After so many years, she continues to always make me smile.”

Sandra has been full of fun, love, and comfort since she was born on March 10, 1969, the daughter of Teresa Cabana and Juan Perez. In her free time, she takes care of a magnificent garden while also caring for her dogs and loving animals in general.

Javier admires all of Sandra’s amazing qualities and appreciates how supportive she is of him and his goals. Sandra believes in Javier, and he notices.

“Just being next to her makes me a better person,” Javier said. “Sandra encourages me in my goals and has always been there to extend help.”

This Valentine’s Day, Javier wants to take the opportunity to tell Sandra that he is full of enduring love for her and cannot wait to continue this life with her – even if it started 30 years later than expected.

“She has always made me a better person and I can’t wait to share the rest of my life with her,” Javier said.
