A Cyber Monday brief

Post by Nathaniel Chambers

November 28, 2022

Did you know that Cyber Monday actually originated as White Wednesday back in 2003? Essentially, 1-800 Flowers was trying to come up with a creative way to combat Black Friday by undercutting the day with an anagram with the opposite color and by starting two days prior.

Jump ahead two years later and the National Retail Federation wanted to encourage people to shop online. Since there was only a limited supply of sale items in the stores, people who did not get a chance to buy something while getting trampled as the doors opened on Black Friday got the chance to find some similar deals while mindlessly returning to work the following Monday.

Jump ahead to the more modern days and we could not imagine a world where Cyber Monday did not exist. Not only is it a great opportunity for retail stores to push their online market – which is where more people are shopping than ever before – but it is a great opportunity for e-commerce stores to throw their hat in the ring and have the opportunity to increase their sales as well.

And as of 2020, Cyber Monday has overtaken Black Friday in terms of spending and sales, and it is only going to continue to surpass the day-after-Thanksgiving shopping day that originated in the 1950s, and rightfully so. When you can find Cyber Monday sales at places like, why wouldn’t you want to get in on all the Cyber Monday deals that are happening right now.

Christmas Day is right around the corner, so get your Christmas gifts early and on sale today as it just so happens to be Cyber Monday.

Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is about making a difference

Each year, people kick off the holiday season by shopping for their favorite Thanksgiving themed decorations and a lot of delicious food, but do not forget to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday was established in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, offering people some time to take actions benefiting the community.

On Nov 27, 2012, this holiday was covered by The Washington Post and ABC News. Shortly in 2018, a total of $125 million was funded via Facebook within an hour on Giving Tuesday, which marked a new record on this platform.

Giving Tuesday is on Nov 29 this year. You can engage in this holiday by donating to different charities, volunteering at a church or hospital.

Contributing your efforts on this special day will make you feel proud.

Christmas lights day

Let your light shine today (National Christmas Lights Day)

December 1, 2022

As written in the lyrics, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” Today, December 1, is National Christmas Lights Day.

Before the invention of electric lights in 1880 by Thomas Edison, many families lit candles on the branches of Christmas trees, which resulted in a large number of house fires.

Until 1903, electronic Christmas lights started to become popular. By 1998, the emergence of LED lights turned into a game changer since they are relatively cheap and environmentally friendly.

Hang up your favorite color of lights to decorate your house in waiting for “step into Christmas”. Also, do not forget to put on your winter coat and go around your neighborhood to enjoy the lights on display.

National Build Joy Day is founded on December 2 each year by a superior American home builder and developer Taylor Morrison in 2017.

Morrison and the team started out with the goal of promoting financial support to victims who have experienced tragedy or natural disasters.

Each year, the organization funds $1,000 to uphold the realization of the best idea for spreading joy to the communities.

When the coronavirus hit the world in 2020, the company was still trying its best to help others. Some of the notable projects they have completed include making blankets for hospital veterans, providing financial assistance to those who lost their loved ones in the pandemic.

Happiness is not always associated with money. Start off today by offering someone a compliment or encouragement.
